Pillows Galore!

As we transition into Fall, we recommend changing out some of your decorating accessories to ring in the new season. New window panels, pillows and throws could help shift a room from a breezy, summery feel to a cozy, elegant Fall entertaining space. You would be surprised how much these small touches could change a space’s aesthetic. Our interior designers would like to share some fun, fabulous pics of throw pillows we found on a recent shopping trip! Not only are pillows one of the most fun decorating accessories to incorporate into a room; they also pack quite a bit of impact into a small surface area!

Less Is A Bore

We can appreciate a pure white, modern, minimalist space as much as the next interior designer. But our interior designers lean away from the “less is more” and much more towards the “less is a bore” interior design style. You can see a great example of this in the dazzling entryway pictured below from the recently completed Steiner Ranch Residence. We at Spaces Designed loooove color, texture and pattern!

Still not sure what we mean by “less is a bore”? Here are some more examples found on Houzz. These designs are bursting with visual interest!

Keep It Cool

Lately, Austin weather may be making you feel as though you are walking into an oven when you step outside! You may be tempted to set the AC at 65 degrees! (Even at the expense of a higher utility bill and the more rapid depletion of the planet’s natural resources! Oh my!) But another solution could be to install ceiling fans in your home or even your office. You can keep things environmentally friendlier, keep the air circulating, and keep cool without cranking up the AC too high.

Gone are the traditional fake-wood-with-gold-hardware ceiling fans! There are many stylish alternatives these days. In this Austin residence, our #interior designers selected some seriously chic and contemporary ceiling fans.

Finished Photos: Steiner Ranch Residence

We are so excited to show you completion shots of this beautiful Austin home, the Steiner Ranch Residence! Our #interiordesign team, did a comprehensive interior project including the kitchen, bathrooms, master bedroom, living, dining, study and outdoor spaces. The interior design style is an eclectic mix of contemporary and Asian antique. Many parts of the design incorporate ways to showcase the extensive and unique art collection of the owners. Earlier this summer we had a post about our photo shoot of epic proportions (Lights! Camera! Action!), and promised to show the finished photos.

Well here they are! Enjoy!

Cut a Rug!

There’s nothing like a well-chosen rug to pull an #interiordesign scheme together. A great area rug can help ground a space, bring out an accent color, or add pattern and texture to a design.

Here are some examples from our portfolio:

Our interior designer, Komal, is always on the look out for great rug suppliers. She saw quite a few inspiring rugs at the New York Design Center when she visited recently!

Selecting the right rug can really make all the difference in completing  a seamless design composition. So when in search of one, don’t give up. The perfect rug is out there!

Interior Design Reno: Good Bone Structure Needed

At our company, Spaces Designed, there are few things we love more than a good #interiordesign #renovation project! But one other favorite thing high on our list is real estate! We have often played a dual role for our clients by providing realtor and #interiordesigner services. This means helping a client find a house to purchase that has “good bones” as well as transforming the spaces into a truly functional home that improves their lifestyles.

In this award-winning Northwest Austin residence, our #interiordesigner helped the client recognize the “good bone structure” of the existing house. Starting with favorable existing conditions makes all the difference for a smoother #remodelproject. These before and after shots show just how much good #interiordesign can improve the aesthetics and functionality of a space.
